I researched this one and in some cases, this is true. Now it's got me wondering. I was already going to make sweet potato pumpkin pie ice cream and I've done the zukes, so why no mash? Could be gross. Could be good.
Whelp, back to chores for me as I await the Breville Beauty to arrive. Have a yummy day and boogie boogie.
Ah, yes food photography at it's finest. All the good lookin' food in magazine are totally inedible. At least they use to be, I wonder if that is changing.
ReplyDeleteI think it is changing, yes. And I wonder if some of that has to do with so many home cooks taking real pictures.
DeleteThen I also read about a law put in place that if the advert is selling ice cream, that real ice cream is required. But if say the advert is for chocolate sauce, then the ice cream can be mash.
How long ago that was put into place, I dunno. But interesting either way.
I love, love, LOVE mashed potatoes, but...ewwwwww!
ReplyDeletelololol
Deleteinteresting fact, who knew?
ReplyDeleteI love these fun facts.
DeleteYes, the often gross truth behind "food styling" . . . .
ReplyDeleteNo cheating on my blog.
DeleteFalse advertising!
ReplyDeletelol
DeleteHaha, all commercials about food are false advertising! I knew about this mashed potato thing, though I can't see that'd stop me from eating it haha .. I love mashed potatoes!
ReplyDeleteHow goes your writing?
DeleteSweet potato pumpkin pie ice cream?
ReplyDeleteYes. Got the idea from JenB. She uses sweet potato instead of crappy canned stuff in her pumpkin pies. So I'm gonna try it in ice cream.
DeleteYour ice cream flavor sounds divine. Mashed potatoes posing as ice cream not so much.
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteAnd more often than not, they taste of potatoes and glue too.
ReplyDeleteYuck. Hopefully, when it's not winter there, you'll get to give homemade a go.
DeleteIt's an art - making food look delicious!
ReplyDeleteHow goes you today?
DeleteFood staging... Well, that certainly makes sense. It's a way to keep it from melting, too.
ReplyDelete:-)
Deletewell that's disgusting
ReplyDeletehahahaha
DeleteWell, that's one way to make sure those ads don't awake a hunger for the product.
ReplyDeleteIf they only really showed what they used for all those foods. Icky.
DeleteI can see using mashed potatoes for ice cream. I'm sure all those lights would melt the ice cream before any decent pictures could be taken!
ReplyDeleteYour sweet potato pumpkin pie ice cream sounds wonderful. I look forward to seeing some samples of that (wouldn't mind being a guinea pig to taste it either!).
When I get it done right, I'll teleport you a sample.
DeleteIt is difficult to get a decent food picture and as already stated, the lights would melt the ice cream.
ReplyDeleteTrue.
DeleteWhat a disappoint on the ice cream pictures:(
ReplyDeleteThat is why I believe in shooting my food 100% naturally. Gross!
ReplyDeleteEwwwww....gross!
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of mashes potatoes so... I'm all for using them to replace picture of ice cream. What a great idea to use sweet potatoes... what are you going to come with next, can't wait to find out!
