CHOPPIN' AT THE BIT

Hello Blogger Babies.  How the heck are ya?  I'm moving around today, getting tons of crap done.  Had a minor setback and wasn't able to paint over the weekend, but no matter, today is here and I'm choppin' at the bit.

I went with choppin' because I'm a cook, not a horse.

Anyway, I'm just thrilled I can paint at all.  So if it's gotta be rest days in between, I am Ooooo Kkkk with that.

But first, I'm off to finish making homemade chicken meatballs.  I'll have to try making meatballs with bean curd, and see if I can sneak it past Poopyhead.

Shhhh ...

But before I go, dig these freebies from the weekend.  We snagged them on the ride home from Barnes.  Old Spice and Crest from Wegmans and the floss was free at Wally World.

Click Reach Floss to print a coupon.

Note: This floss is also free at my local Dollar General.

And that my Buttfaces, brings us to the end of this post.  I hear my water rumbling from the stove, so it's time to make the pasta.  I'm on a new kick where I make supper early, and we reheat on the stove later.  So far, it's working great.

Cheers and boogie boogie.

  1. I hope all is okay? I don't like hearing the words "minor setback" because I know what that means in my world. Hope it doesn't mean the same in yours.

I'm glad you're back at things today. Preparing dinner early is a great idea. More time with your hubby when he gets home! Have fun with those meatballs. The food, not those silly puppies! =P

    1. Hey, Girl. Minor setback for me,
just meant an extra day of resting
on the couch. But today it's back
to chop, chop, chopping at the
      house. Got a lot done.

      How went your day?

  2. Hope you get to the painting soon. Chicken meatballs? I don't eat beef, so those sound good.

    1. These are killer good and Tim doesn't
even mind that they aren't beef.

They go well in hot subs, too.

  3. Btw, the term is "Chompin' at the bit" as in what horses do when they are nervous or agitated. :)

    1. I know, right? I thought it was a cooking pun, but nope. Unless it's a really good one, that I didn't get. After all, if one were to circumscribe me with straight lines, all the angles would be obtuse.

      Bit of a letdown, really.
      Mebbe it's a Canadianism.

    2. Tom: I know. I'm a cook. Not a horse. I don't chomp, I chop.

      Stu: You didn't get it. I'm a cook. Not a horse. I don't chomp. I chop.

  4. You are super organized! No wonder you get so much stuff done. I'm waiting for my homemade honey nut granola bars to finish baking. They smell so good. I'm trying to make healthy snacks because my gang here will eat crap if I don't feed them properly. Then I'm making turkey in the over with mashed potatoes and veggies. I'm going to sneak in almond milk into the mashed potatoes. Shhhh...don't tell :)

Have fun painting! Did you start? Are you almost finished? No matter. Enjoy.

    1. I love homemade oat treats. So yummy. I bet your house smells killer good.

      Turkey and mash. Also yummy.

I did start, thanks for asking. Got two sections nearly done, they just need touch ups along the sides. So far, I am loving the Lemon Tart Room.

    1. Did you check to see if you can get that coupon in Canada? Sometimes they have both.

Yes, it's a good day, just to be able to paint. That's what I don't ever complain about exercise or housework because I know it could always be worse, as in, not being able to do it at all. So I'm thankful for what I can do.

      Cheers and boogie boogie.

  11. I use Old Spice too, I currently have Bahamas and also Alps ones :)
Do you cook sitting when you have back problems? Cooking can be so tough for the back, back in the days when I used to have two or three cake orders for the same day, my back would hurt a lot after a few hours of work

    1. Rarely will I sit when I cook and bake. And can't sit when kneading dough. Though I have a nice bench, high enough to make things comfortable.

Unlike when I was a prep cook at the restaurant. My prep station was too low. But even then, we move around quickly that sitting, just doesn't work.

And even when I work in my own kitchen, I still have that prep cook training in my blood. Lots of things going at once, timing and all that.

    2. me too! I will only sit when I roll out some dough and have to do the filling part.... I hate low working stations too. Here in my country most of the kitchens are made for the female height... and I'm not tall, but it is still not comfortable... the same goes for sinks

    3. I'm short, and even for me, the low stations are killer. The bench I have at home comes nice and high, but not too high.

Oh sinks. My pet peeve. Why are they so low? I don't understand this.

Sometimes if I'm chopping a huge amount of potatoes, then I can sit okay. I'm going to be there for awhile.

Just pulled two test bakes out of the oven. Back to the kitchen for the third and then I am done for the day. Woohoo.
