AIR FRY "BAKED" JACKET POTATO (plus Friday Question)

I'm on a potato roll but there are a zillion other veggies that work in the air fryer, as well. So fun! By the way, her name is Mable and I love her. Also, I'm on the hunt for a waffle knife for waffle fries.

Muwhahahaha!

PS: This first video is comin'atcha live from my phone. That's all from me. I'm done with work for the day and I'm about to go make a Jersey plate of fries.

Friday Question: Do you like potatoes and if so, what kind? Are you able to eat them deep-fried? I cannot. Hurts my tummy.

  1. When I was a little we would have a bonfire in the fall and toss potatoes in to cook. Black on the outside creamy inside.
No bonfires in Tucson... so I put potatoes in a hot oven no foil, and the outside gets crispy hard inside soft and creamy inside. I eat them plain or with salt and pepper maybe a pat of butter but not always. So good and reminds me of my childhood.

    cheers, parsnip

  3. The jacket potatoes do look good. Thirty-five minutes next time? I have been seeing air fryers everywhere recently. We don't fry much of anything but I may have to investigate.

    1. I think maybe, yes. Although, once we got them to our plates, the jackets got a bit softer and the insides were sooooo creamy.

Air fryers are funny names. It's so much more than fake frying foods. Mine is a small fan oven, so hot air blows around. Great for cookies/biscuits.

  4. I haven't had a jacket potato in years!

You call that a little snow! We had snow here in the UK too, I'm glad to say it lasted one and then the rain washed it all away.

That really is a wee bit for here. How often does it snow, there?

  9. Potatoes? oh yes please! Boiled, mashed, roasted, made into chips and deep fried, made into potato pancakes (latkes), as a potato bake with layered cheeses, I'll eat them all. I do not like those gluey instant mashed potatoes though.

    3. I am not a fan but ... will say there was one time when a friend's mom made them into a lasagna with instant mash and onions and I tell you what? I went back for thirds and fourths!

  10. We like potatoes! You know - po-ta-toes. Boil them, mash them, put them in a stew...
And I am ninety-nine percent certain one box under the tree contains an air fryer.

    1. I say it with a b - Ba ta toes. I can't help it. Or, I could but then I have to stop and really think before I pronounce. Too much work.

Very cool that you have one under the tree. They are so fun!

  11. I wonder how pumpkin seeds would be roasted in the air fryer? You make me so hungry.

    1. I made the pumpkin seeds in Mable and they were crazy good. But ... I had to use the bottom well so they didn't blow away with the fan.

    1. I love Mable (spelled both ways, but I lean toward le. Air fryers are so much more than fryers. It's just an egg-shape fan oven. Cookies, cakes, all kinds of bakes work well.

  19. Another potato lover here - especially baked!

Is the air fryer really like a little convection oven, then? And if I remember right, convection ovens cook more quickly than conventionalovens. That's the best of all worlds right there!

    2. Hey Jenny! Yes, it's a fan oven (aka convection air), that blows about really really fast in an egg-shape. Faster and no preheats for mostly everything that I make.
