That's Progress, Baby

It's another snow storm day here in the land of Spring. But you know what? It's Saturday afternoon, I'm still in my jams, just ate a yummy lunch and I don't have to be, anywhere.

Woohoo!

For the last two weeks I've been on a jog/walk 5k every other day, schedule (and I love it). It wasn't long ago when chronic pain made walking to the bathroom by myself difficult and at times, impossible. Imagine my excitement when during today's 5k, I will complete 2 miles of steady slow and low jogging.

That's progress, baby.

  2. Good for you!

Here it's sunny, but below the freezing mark, so no melting of the snow that's fallen here in the last little while.

    1. Great pictures of ice on your page, wow. Was fun looking at all that. However, I am ready to be back in my garden.

Amazing that you are below the freezing mark.

    1. I tell ya', I love the snow but yes, I'm with you. Enough. Spring allowed me a small taste of being in my garden and I want that back.

  4. That's pretty good, Ivy. (about your walking) (and not having to be anywhere, that's pretty good too).

    1. Thanks, Shelia. Lovely art as usual from your page. I tell you this all the time but I really mean it. You have such a talent. I could easily see your creations in books.

  5. That is good! Several of my family members are runners, so they train 6 days a week. I did a 5K the other day--got about halfway through jogging and then just ran out of energy. Had to walk part of the last half! Great that you do it every other day!

    1. The first mile for me is all walking, then I jog (no running at this point), then end with the calm happy to have done it, walk.

What made you go for a 5K?

  6. That's wonderful Ivy. I am supposed to go for a stress test (put off because of the bugs) but I can't do the one on the treadmill so I have to do the nuclear one. Hateful, had it once before, worst think in my life I think, but my hip won't let me do the treadmill version.

    1. Is that where they inject you with a shot and then watch the glow-in-the-dark stuff go through your body?

It does sound hateful. How did your body feel afterward? Did you need recovery time?

    2. I'm not sure about that Ivy. They inject a radioactive drug which speeds up your heart and then give you the antidote immediately. Even though it is the shortest of times, it feels like forever and you feel as though you are dying, well I did anyway. You then are radioactive for a while and if you are planning to fly have to have certificate. The injection takes place one day, they then see you the next day for more tests.

      How goes Little Alice?

    2. She's doinggrand, and still operating at only two speed settings: sound asleep or totally manic :) She's got a new best friend as well - Gladys, the spaniel puppy of one of Rachel's bosses. They love to play chase round the office garden (or round the office!)

    3. Still in puppy-mode, I remember those times with our pups. Funny stuff. Eat, poop, play, sleep.

Is the new best friend a visit thing or do you now have two pups? I love having two. When we get a house, I'd like two more. Though I go back and forth on that ...

      Headed to Barnes now. Woohoo!

    4. Ha ha! No one Alice is enough of a handful. She only gets to see Gladys when they are both visiting the office where Rachel works (Alice goes in with Rachel three or four days of the week, they all love her there and are very disappointed now when Rachel turns up alone!) or if she goes to visit Gladys!

      Have fun at the bookstore!

    1. It really does feel HUGE. And, dig this, during today's set, I naturally progressed to 6K with a 2.2 mile jog in the middle.

      Pretty flippin' happy 'bout that.

  20. Ivy - that is SO SO good to read. I always enjoy walking but never been too keen on running, which is strange because in my younger days I played a lot of team games which involved running, but I guess in short bursts.

Your snow has to go soon - surely?
We have a pleasant Spring day here so a walk later could be very nice on a Sunday afternoon.

    Take Care

    All the best Jan

    1. The roads are clear and we are soon to hit Barnes but the back deck and yard are still covered in snow. Heat still on, too. Burrr.

Love that you had a great Spring day walk. Those are the best. Do you grill outside? We do. Fun stuff.

    2. Yes grilling outside / BBQ's can be great fun. Staying inside for eats at the moment though ...
