These kinds of waxes are on some fruit and veggies. Including but not limited to, eggplant, bell peppers and cucumbers.

  4. Oh dear, why don't we know these things? But hey, tell the kids and maybe break them of a bad habit???
Veggies too? Now that's not good - another excuse not to eat them too? Okay, fortify the water and I'm good, just not with bug shells and crap! :)

    1. I had to call a farm once and they confirmed that they used bug shells for added shine on their oraganic apples. Yum.

  7. I knew that about shellac, but I didn't know a form of it was on skittles.

  8. Shellac is just bug spit that has hardened, it's no different than the bee vomit we eat as Honey. Now, the dye called carmine, is actually crushed bugs.

    1. The farmer told me they used crushed bugs on his shiney red apples, so you'd have to take that up with him :-)

  10. We read the FDA info on just "What" 9and How Much) of things are allowed in our foods...
That is why we no longer drink milk...

    1. Hmm, nothing like a little sprinkle of bugs. Though I see people eating roaches and spiders. I don't know if I could or not. Maybe that'll be an upcoming Friday Question.
