I Love Baking with Chia Seeds

It's morning and that means, time to grab the scale, start with 70g of flour and see where it goes.  I'm thinking another lemon and chai seed test batch.

Love that combo.  So good together.

If you've never worked with chia seed and want to give it a go, click Bob's Red Mills for a coupon.  For my Canadian girls, I don't see anywhere on here that you can't use the coupon, but I still don't know for sure.

Here's a picture of organic chia seeds, taken with DSLR.   And that folks, is a wrap.  Time for me to get to work and get done.  I'm fixin' to be finish by noon.

Have a spooky day.

    1. Chia seeds are packed with Omega, so I'm honestly surprised that you haven't heard of them yet.

  2. What are chai seeds? Does it have any connection with chay, the way we Slavic people call tea :)

    1. I bake with them often, and eat them often. They always work nicely. Kind of like a poppy seed. Works nicely on top of breads, too.

  4. I've had chai tea but never eaten anything with chai seeds. Didn't know they existed! And thanks for your advice about the Oreos -- I'll check Target although I'm not sure whether the Canadian stores carry food of any description. But it's worth a look!

    1. I flipped the i and a around wrong. Chia.

I dunno, hopefully they will have it since it's a chain, but don't know. I would happily send you some if they wouldn't be crushed to bits and cost a million dollars to ship.

    2. Chai/chia -- makes no difference to me. Haven't eaten seeds of either of them, LOL! Yes, I'll keep looking for those Oreos -- if they're in this country, I'll hunt them down!

    1. My bad, William. I moved the i and a around because well, it was four in the morning and I wasn't all there writing the post. I meant to write chia.

    1. I've done it many times before, always turns out great. They are like poppy seed when baked. Works great on top of breads and bagels, too.

Hope you give it a go.

  7. I was eating them in my oatmeal but found them too high in fiber!

  8. I've also never made anything with chia sees although I've run across so many recipes with them in it. I will have to give it a go. It's fun to try new things!

    1. That coupon will get you a buck off, if your stores carry that brand.

Chia seeds, I find are super fun to work with. They make a neat quick pudding with vanilla soy milk, too.

Hope you had a groovy day.
