Friday Question: Tabasco

I scored these little 59ml bottles of Tabasco for free.  Never been a fan but now that I'm baking with vinegar, I thought I'd give them another go.

Which brings me to today's Friday Question: Who likes Tabasco?  What do you put it on?  Have you baked with it?  For me, I'm going with a spicy muffin or scone.  See how that goes.

  1. I love it! I put it on just about any grain/veg/tofu combo. I also put it on pizza.

  4. Tabasco stinks. I know, my husband loves the stuff. He puts it on his eggs. I'm not a fan of the hot. Heck, if it can't get past my nose, it ain't going in my mouth! :)

    1. Too hot? I don't taste the heat. I taste vinegar. There's coupons on coupons.com if you want to get some for your son. It's Tabasco season.

  7. I make it a point to steer clear of anything too hot or spicy. My GI tract is already a mess!

  8. I'm not a big Tabasco fan but the only thing I can think of putting it in is chili or taco meat or something.

    1. Do you like heat at all? To me, Tabasco is not heat. It's vinegar and pepper tasting. Hoping to work around that and use it in a bake.

  10. I use it on everything and when I ate pizza it is so good on it. I always use it in my low salt tomato juice.
    I am loving the Green Tabasco Sauce right now

    I use lots of Japanese and Asian hot sauce and peppers.
    The best Tabasco Sauce is a limited edition made in Japan that has yuzu added. I wish they would sell that here but I don't think they make enough. Son always sends me one bottle. They are all gone the day they are put on the shelves.
    Add it to any savory dish and especially good with eggs.
    A few drops can liven up any dish.

    1. I got the green for free but didn't feel that the cornstarch (cornflour for UK), and xanthan gum were needed. Maybe if they removed those two thickening agents, I might have enjoyed the green. Though, they would still need to up the heat for me. Too mild.

      Never heard of yuzu, will google it. Glad he gets you what you like. That is very cool.

  14. I love Tabasco. I've never baked with it, but I have sprinkled it into casseroles/stews etc ... to give a nice warmth to the meal.

    Oh, and of course a good dollop doesn't go astray in a Bloody Mary. Just saying ...

    1. I'm hoping that when I bake with it, the vinegar taste will burn off. Right now, that's all I taste, with very little heat.

      I've never had a Bloody Mary. Quite the name though. Cheers and boogie boogie.

  16. Tabasco sauce. My human friend, Gary, just purchased a bottle from Sainsbury's supermarket in Leek, Staffordshire. He adds a few drops to a glass of tomato juice or V8 juice.

  17. I do use it but not very often. And when a recipe calls for it, I determine whether I'll include it or not depending on what's being made.

  18. Hot sauce can be put on anything! Rice, eggs, potatoes, steak, chicken...

    We love it in our family!

    Not on muffins though.

    1. It's the vinegar in the Tabasco that I don't care for. Plus, there's not enough heat. I'm hoping if I bake it in a spicy cheese scone/biscuit/muffin, that the vinegar will burn off.
