I love these treats because they taste good, are crunchy and made with leftover chicken bits.
Boil the raw chicken. Strain. Cool. Blitz in processor until it looks like meat paste. Dump in a bowl, add flour and dog-friendly herbs. No weighing, just eyeball and feel when texture is ready to roll. Then cut into shapes and bake.
Note: Sometimes I add a little of the cooking water.
Also Note: Adding too much flour, lowers the meat taste.
I'm still working out the times and temps. Next batch I'll try baking the pretty side down, then flip half-way through, because that might yield a more even bake. We'll see.
And that's a wrap. Meat paste. Easy. Fun. Tasty. How can it be wrong? Now, I'm headed to the shower and then to market. The goal: FREE crapper paper.
YOur doggies are lucky in so many ways.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteYou know, I have to have something to do whilst I heal. Writing a doggy treat bake book felt like a logical and fun fit.
Taste good, as in you're tried them?
ReplyDeleteOf course. I try them all.
DeleteHow do you know they taste good? You eat dog food? :)))
ReplyDeleteOf course, I try them all.
DeletePenny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar has just licked the computer screen :)
ReplyDeleteJust wait until they invent, smell-a-blog.
DeleteNever thought meat paste could look so good!
ReplyDeleteAnd fun to make.
DeleteMy doggy is jealous of your doggies. Good luck on the free paper. :)
ReplyDeleteI got the free crapper paper.
DeleteWoohoo!
Woohoo! Awesome!
DeleteIt's the little things, I tell ya.
DeleteYour dogs eat like kings!
ReplyDeleteAs all pups should.
DeleteWell, they don't look as tasty as the waffle sticks…or as curious and wonderful as the garbanzo crunch but that wouldn't stop me from trying them. Oh, they're for the dogs? But you said chicken? My bad.
ReplyDeleteYou could eat these, I did.
DeleteUp next, I'll add more herbs, Kosher salt, flatten the dough and make human chicken crackers.
So much fun.
What exactly are dog-friendly herbs? :)
ReplyDeleteHerbs that don't mess with their bellies. Or spices. Like garlic and onions are supposed to be off limits for pups, but parsley freshens their breath.
DeleteI'm sure the hounds love it!
ReplyDeleteThey do. Somehow, Wiggy always knows when I am making her treats.
DeleteWow, good stuff! Your doggy treats are amazing. Your furry kids must be in seventh heaven with all these treats.
ReplyDeleteSo did you get the free crapper paper? I got a free body wash that I've wanted to try out. It was on sale, and with my coupons added I got 3 cents back. Felt great to get that freebie!
I did indeed. 914.4 Sqft of free crapper paper.
DeleteLove that you got paid to take the body wash out of the store. So much fun.
What scent is it?
It's Coconut Milk with Jasmine Petals (Dove). Mmmm...smells so good. I've wanted to try their new line of body washes, but only if the price is right. A freebie is the right price! Yeah, definitely great to be paid to take products out of the store!
DeleteThat sounds wonderful, both
Deletein price and scent.
My dog would love that one...but we don't have a food processor. I love that you call TP "crapper paper."
ReplyDeleteHello and welcome.
DeleteThey can be made by hand. In that case, I think slightly warm meat might be easier to mash. I will give it a go and publish the results.
Did you get the free crapper paper?
ReplyDeleteI did. 914.4 sqft of free crapper paper. Thanks for asking.
DeleteI think you should start your own dog treat business:
ReplyDeleteThanks for the support. Told Tim about your dog treat title idea and he liked it too.
DeleteLucky dogs!
ReplyDeleteThey are fun to spoil.
DeleteCute post! Your pups will be well fed with these :)
ReplyDeleteJen
Not a big fan of store-bought treats.
DeleteMy daughter and SIL have started feeding their 3 yr old golden retriever real food...she was a wee bit overweight, as she doesn't really like her walks! They use chicken bits, thighs, legs etc...fresh veggies and fruit...they say her poops are teeny tiny now...and she seems more spunky! She actually gets excited about meal time, whereas before not really all that interested. I am sure your treats...other than the gluten...would be excellent for this purpose! YAHOO on the TP purchases!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day Ivy!
Cheers!
Linda :o)
If their dogs honestly have a gluten issues (rather than a human-imposed issue), then there are PLENTY of ways around making treats that don't contain gluten.
DeleteJust yesterday I made crunchy hamburger hearts with white rice flour. But any gluten-free flour or meal will do.
I don't have that post ready, so I'll email the picture to you after this. Might be an easy safe choice for her dog.
Thankfully though, not all dogs have gluten issues. Knock on wood.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today! xo
ReplyDeleteSure thing.
DeleteThose look great!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteThese look awesome. Do you have any grain-free recipes for doggie treats? Bronson can't have grains.
ReplyDeleteWhat brand dog food does Bronson eat? Does he eat wet or dry? And if he only eats dry, is there a brand of wet dog food he can safely eat?
DeleteAlso, if you email me a list of his likes, maybe I can write something for you.
