My Head Smells Like Chocolate

I'm playing around with homemade shampoos because each time I go to buy ready-made poo, I get disgusted by the ingredients.  So today, I made dry shampoo with arrowroot and cocoa powder. I smell like a giant Willy Wonka Bar.

And yesterday ....

  1. Awesome!
If Tim starts nibbling on you later, you'll know why.

  2. That is great news. Ooo, Alex may be right about the nibbling, chocolate is a good smell.

  3. I have been reading about making your own shampoos and body soaps. So I know you can do it better than many of us but I am not using chocolate.

    cheers, parsnip

  5. Yes, some shampoos have such a strong perfumey smell. Do you have Neal's yard products where you are? - they are supposed to be made from purer ingredients.

  6. Willy Wonka Bar can't be bad but I like the sound of the Pumpkin Spice you mentioned to William ...

    All the best Jan

  7. Can I sniff your hair?

Well, that sounds kinkier than I meant it to . . . .

  8. Glad you're doing better, Ivy. Keep up the great attitude, because that IS key.

  9. Why I are so many things so overly scented? I cannot walk down the soap aisle of stores. Fortunately I don't have to do it often as a friend makes my soaps.

  13. So glad you're doing well! Homemade shampoo sounds interesting! I switched to L'Oreal's sulfate-free shampoo a while back because I didn't think the sulfate was doing my hair any good. I love my shampoo now, but it is so expensive! If you come up with a recipe you really love, share it with us please!

    1. Thanks. I'll look them up.

Will do on the share. From what I understand there's a lot of trial and error in finding the best formula for each person - and I guess even the type of water used, has something to do with the end results as well.

      Neat stuff.

      Thanks for the L'Oreal tip.

    1. I don't know enough about it but it feels like the arrowroot (or cornstarch or potato starch), remove the grease from my bangs. The unsweetened cocoa powder or raw cacao powder, adds colour, smell and I think also helps with removing grease.

But honestly, I don't know enough about either yet. Learning and playing. I will say this, the smell lasted.
