HAPPY

Dig me. This is my closet. Two robes, one long flannel that I wear as a robe and one hippie dippy dress. And in my drawers, are just the stuff that fits and that I enjoy wearing. No clutter. No storage. No just-in-case.

I. Am. So. Happy.

  1. I love that feeling! I recently did the same thing...kinda. I got rid of so much stuff but did keep the one size up clothes just in case...well, ya know...

    Good for you, Ivy!!

    1. Congrats on getting your book out there. I saw your post tonight. Way cool. Now, tell me, why are you holding onto your one size up clothes?

    1. Oh my gosh, Norma. It is just that, freedom. And odd thing, my memory has gotten better. By a lot. So neat.

  3. My wife bugs me to get rid of stuff since my closet is full but I wear the same ten shirts or so. (Not counting t-shirts.)

    1. Sounds like you enjoy the shirts that you have. Cool beans.

  4. If you are going to work each day, more clothing is necessary. I too could cut down like Ivy has but not sure I would want to go that far. I should go a lot further than I have though.

    1. Hey Jo - I feel that regardless if someone works outside the house, at home, is retired or a college student, that this does not matter.

      What matters (to me), is do I enjoy wearing the items that I have? If the answer is yes, it stays. If I don't wear it, or if I'm holding onto just-in-case items (of any kind), then I opted to let those go.

      You mentioned that you should go a lot further than you have. What makes you say that? What do you hold onto?

    2. Well, I still hold onto a lot of bigger clothes, just in case. Got a stack of CDs I never play, etc. etc.

    3. Out of all the just-in-case bigger clothes, how many have you started to wear again?

    4. Having dieted since I was 11 Ivy, I always figure I will go back to big size although this time, for the first time in my life, I seem to be maintaining the weight.

    5. Imagine the feeling of not holding onto those bigger clothes. If you gave them all away, today. In one big go.

      What would that feel like?

  5. That is so awesome. I need some of your motivation. I always feel organized in my life when I have organized my house and closets.

  6. I just unloaded a bunch of clothes to the Goodwill too. No sense in hanging on to stuff that . . . ooooh, is just a LITTLE too tight! . . . when did that happen, LOL?

    1. I tried on a few that were too tight and some that were too big. They all went out the door.

      Congrats on getting rid of yours as well.

  12. Sounds great, Ivy, but we have such a range of temperatures that we need to keep more, I think. Don't you have the same kind of weather? Yesterday it was really hot and today it is not.
    And that's not to go into keeping clothes for a fat person, a thin person or an in-between person, all the same person in any one year.
    What do you think about that?

    1. Yes! So nuts. This morning I wanted to put the heat on and by afternoon, I turned the air on.

      What I did is kept the clothes that fit and that I enjoy wearing. I have all that I need, even including winter. With nothing in storage boxes. No just-in-case items (or any kind), in sight.

      Let me tell you, doing laundry is heavenly. No lie.

      Thanks for asking the question. I had another friend (in real life), text me a similar question.

      Happy Weekend :)

  13. Hey Ivy,

    Nice and thank you for coming out of the closet. I had a wardrobe malfunction, once. Yep, the instructions to the wardrobe made no sense at all...

    A very HAPPY weekend to you.

  17. Good for you!!! The last time I had a pile of stuff to leave the flat here, one of my friends asked if I was contemplating leaving the planet...Has Spring cleaning gone out of fashion? Also, I did not realize anything was amiss with packets of Stevia one finds in the stores...Can you elaborate or send an e-mail? Thanks.

    1. Hi e - I went to your blog to search for your email but didn't see it. Here's a few quick points about bulk bags of stevia from supermarkets.

      * Poor quality product
      * Contains fillers and bulk
      * Questionable origins
      * Over-priced (for what it contains)

      Thanks for asking and, my email is on the side bar of my blog. Though I thought we had once talked on email before, but now I'm not sure. Anyway, any questions are always welcome.

      PS: Very funny about leaving the planet. Did you find you missed anything that you got rid of? I have yet to miss anything.
