Wake & Bake

Tomorrow's plan is simple. Wake and bake. On the menu, carrot cake cupcakes using my new homemade baking powder. So far, my bakes have all risen. But now it's time for the real test of heavy raw carrot and zante currant (raisins).

In other news, tonight I wrote a second draft of my pumpkin spiced muffins, using baked orange potatoes instead of pumpkin. It's an idea given to me by my friend Jen and I have to say, brilliant. The bake was soft and with the spices, tasted like a pumpkin muffin.

And that folks, is the end of our weekend and the end of this post. We're headed to watch a movie. We started one last night and it kinda sucked monkey balls so I don't know if we'll finish that or start something new. Either way, the Halloween lights are up and the room is good and spooky.

  3. What are orange potatoes ?
Do you mean Yams or sweet potatoes ? I love yams.
We roast them in the oven till soft and eat them just like that. No butter, sugar or marshmallows.
I can see you using yams instead of pumpkin, I used to make a niffy yam pie. And have been know to mash then up sprinkle with brown sugar and chopped pecans.
    yummy.

    cheers, parsnip

  12. Hope you had fun baking (as usual it all sounds Yum!). And a good time with a new movie.

You're way too far ahead of me with the Halloween decorations. I'm not ready for back to school, and my Urchins are already back now. And I go back next week with the 3 yr olds. Oy. What happened to summer? lol!
