I Love Lucy (104 Today)

Yesterday's plans of tart crust makin' madness went into the crapper because I had to mostly rest. So did laundry and watched a lot of Lucy (today's her 104th birthday). Later, I made homemade bread and butter.

And as for today, it's another round of Lucy/Rest combo. The clip from below is one of my MOST favorite episodes. I love when she says, "Happy little loaf."

She's the best.

Glad you guys got to chat last night. He still doesn't know what's in the secret sprinkle stuff I make. Well, he knows there's nutritional yeast, but that's all he knows.

  6. I Love Lucy ... a great show.

Do hope you feel better after your rest, listen to your body, and take it slower.

I will send a cup of your favourite drink over ... virtually speaking, hope it helps.

Take care and lots of good wishes.

    All the best Jan

  9. Happy B-day to Lucy, I know she is one of your favorites. Although I am not sure in where she stands in the pantheon of Wonder Woman, Bionic Woman, Kelly Garret and the Nanny.

And the bread was incredible. They were happy little rolls.

    1. Toss in Nancy Drew, Lilly Munster and The Nanny, then put then in alphabetical order because I LOVE THEM ALL!

  10. <3 My lukewarm coffee reminds me of the episode when Lucy doesn't pay the bills and the percolator ain't percolatin' and when she pours Ricky some "coffee" it's just cool water hahaha GENIUS! What a show. And what a lady. If you haven't seen her in "Yours, Mine, and Ours" with Henry Fonda, ya gotta check that out! Makes me feel warm and fuzzy every time I watch it. Love it. Feel better soon :)

  13. I need you two to move to Nashville so I can stop by for bread on occasion.

Speaking of, I need a good, easy (read: Matt cannot screw up) bread recipe to make Subway style sandwiches with. Got any handy?

    1. Hey Matt - No, I don't have those kinds of rolls in my collection. Are you looking for a sub roll? Or something just like subway?

Because I just took a quick look online and if you google homemade subway style bread, there's a few different ones that you might like.

BUT, if you're new to baking breads, I recommend doing the search on youtube. Videos are sometimes better for the, cannot screw up approach, as you'll get to see just how it should look.

      Hope that helps.

    2. I have made some in the past so I am not a complete newb. I would say 60% successful with with a basic recipe. :-)

      I will search around, thanks!

    3. I found something you might like for that Subway-style. Headed over to your blog to give you the link, as I'm not on the tablet right now (where my email is).

  16. Feel better, all the wildfire smoke got to me the last two days.
Not a Lucy fan. Every one is the same, for me, but there have been a few that I liked. But the Happy Little Loaf one is really a great one for you.

    cheers, parsnip

  17. She is and will always be the best. Have you ever seen the hour long episodes? They were done after the original 5 seasons with the same cast. They are just as good if not better because they had more time to get into a story. (I was off work yesterday but I wore my "I Love Lucy" scrubs to work today.
