Friday Question: PUMPKINS !!!!

It's Friday and that means question time. And on my brain, is pumpkin, pumpkin, pumpkin and MORE pumpkin. But this year, I won't be able to partake in ANY of the pumpkin spice adventures plastered every flippin' where. But, I will be able to make lots of good pumpkin spice goodies right here at home.

Even better, eh? I think so.

Do you like pumpkin spice? How about pumpkin spice lattes? Pumpkin bread? Pumpkin pie? Pumpkin spiced muffin with zante currants? Pumpkin cookies/biscuits?

  4. I love the taste and smell of pumpkins....but only in the Autumn. We have a few in our garden, but they are not doing well and I fear that we will be buying our jack o lanterns this year instead of using the ones in our garden.

  5. Not a big fan of pumpkin pie (prefer sweet potato pie at Thanksgiving) but I do like pumpkin bread.

  6. Yeah, I'm definitely a pumpkin everything guy. I wait all year for 'Pumpkin Flavor Season'.

Pumpkin cookies are a favorite of mine that for some reason are very hard to find here in NY. That is to say, we have pumpkin beer, ice cream, coffee, all easier found in our stores and supermarkets, but pumpkin cookies almost always require a trip to a gourmet or specialty shop.

  9. You had me with all that pumpkin goodness until you mentioned currants. Ugh! Leave those out and I'm fine with your list. More than fine, actually. Mmmmm... :)

    1. Even the zante currants, which are raisins? I have a good friend who hates raisins and celery.

    2. I only like raisins in my oatmeal raisin cookies. Otherwise... not a fan. :)

    3. Oh, and I can't stand celery, either. Do I know this friend? Haha! :)

Pumpkin muffins or cookies -- I'd certainly try them.
Pumpkin coffee? -- if you put anything other than coffee in it, it's not coffee anymore. Blech. :)

    1. Tim told me you just like it black. Back when I was able to drink coffee, I liked mine black with a small glug of local maple syrup.

  17. I do not like pumpkin pie. No I do not. It is nasty and vile. It is right up there with parsnips and black licorice.

    1. Thank you for the pumpkin and I haven't had parsnips in so long, I've forgotten what they taste of.

  18. Oh! I just read angryparsnip's comment. My view on parsnips in no reflection at all. Parsnips (and black licorice) are foods that make me cry. Turnips too for that matter.

    1. I have a parsnip muffin recipe that you would like.
I love parsnips. I bet you like those gaudy carrots that everyone picks instead of the lonely parsnip.
And I like black licorice and turnips too.
I had a gud dug once named Turnip.

      cheers, parsnip

    2. Birdie: lolololol. You are a kind soul. Thanks for all your comments today.

      Parsnip: What's a gaudy carrot?

    3. When I married my first husband my mother-in-law used to make turnips. She was the kindest soul and I never wanted to hurt her feelings so I ate them. I would take a huge drink of water after each bite.

Parsnip muffins might be OK because I like pumpkin spice muffins.

    2. One of our sons always has plenty of pumpkins which are all carved out for the children (our grandchildren) they love going to pick their own pumpkins .. a lot of fun.

Some other friends of ours decorate the home so well - alas puts me to shame. I'll have to try harder LOL !

  22. OK, HW, call me weird but I actually don't like the taste of pumpkin at all! Not in lattes, cookies, or even pie! Maybe it's cuz I didn't grow up ever eating them..not until I moved here as an adult. My wife loves pumpkin lattes though and Lamar's doughnuts starts serving them tomorrow! Woot.

    1. How about clove, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger? It's what goes into my bakes to give it that spiced yum.

I will google Lamar's, I don't know what they are but I love all the harvest fun.

Thanks for all your great comments.
