4 Years of Wiggy (The Sock Monster)

I believe that the dog picks the owner, not the other way around. And that's just what happened, four years ago today when I waited in the shelter yard. Here she came, running and full of life. Plowed into me with the biggest hug, then flopped on her back, off for a quick pee and bam, right back with another hug.

The worker said, "I've never seen a dog do that before."

Tim named her Wiggy because she wiggled so much as a pup that she'd fall over. And she still wiggles all the time. This is one happy, happy pup. Her hobbies include digging holes, snuggling, stealing Tim's socks and punching her sister.

Even if Tim's socks all have holes.

  13. I remember my dog's sock-stealing days. She's rather old now, so she looks at a sock like "boring".

  14. I love Wiggy!

I mean, I love all dogs, and I especially love my own, but I really adore Wiggy. So darn cute, fun, and every bit a dog.

Give her a hug for me, a one for Bug so the little one doesn't feel left out.

    1. She is no dumb dumb.

How's it feel to be back online and connected again? That trip sounded very loud, all those chicks in one room. Yikes.

    2. I'm happy to be back home (connected or not). Yeah, it's quieter here, but it really wasn't that noisy at the retreat. When writers get together, they tend to...write. :)

    3. I'm funny with smells and noises. And if those 11 chicks all had different shampoos, stinky perfumes, clothing smells and all that, forget it. I'd have to leave. Well, I wouldn't go in the first place because I'm not interesting in retreating with that many people.

      Me. Alone. Writing Desk. Happy.

  16. What a smart puppy to pick you out.
I can just imagine what a cute puppy she was.
Sure I have mentioned before how much I love that header photo of Wiggy. Adore the name Bug.
I named my first Scotty, Kirby after the vacuum cleaner because everything on the floor was hers.
I think I will write about this on Friday.

    cheers, parsnip

    1. She's a good one. How goes your Little Monster? When are you headed out to France. What is your favorite thing to eat when you're there?

  18. I agree. Dogs, and even cats, pick their people. When you've been chosen it's for life.
She's a pretty dog. Love her eyes.

Our dog Sox, may she rest in peace, picked us out at the shelter. I'll never forget it. She's been gone 3 years now, and I'll never forget any of it. :)

    1. I share your pain. I really do. After Peanut died, it took us awhile to get Wiggy. I didn't think my heart had anymore room but turns out, I was happily mistaken.

I love to hear that you got Sox at the shelter. That is the best, I think. I'd love to hear your story, too. I love those kinds of things.

      You feeling any better today?

  23. Sigh, not much. Still sick, and The Man left work and took himself to the emergency room for some tests. Waiting to hear is the worst. Could use some good juju around here.
