Homemade Stuffing Bread {Today's Lab}

Tonight is supposed to be Thanksgiving dinner but I just couldn't get it all done in time and come out still standing.  But that's only because I was out couponing.  No freebies but lots of produce for good prices.

I'm happy with that.

Now dig this.  Below is a ball of dough that I made today for stuffing bread, no horrid little store-bought cubes for us, thanks.  Anyway, this morning I used homemade chicken stock to make the dough (along with herbs).

Now I've made herb stuffing bread before but never used chicken stock instead of water, to make dough.  I'm super excited to see how today's lab, bakes.

Oh, and I almost forgot, I got a buttload of local apples for super cheap.  Oh my gosh, the bakes.  My brain nearly can't stand the excitement.  It's too much I say, too much.

PS: It's about to turn 4:14 - now that's cool.

Oiled ball of stuffing dough, just after being made.

  1. Hope it turns out good.
We toast bread and cut it into cubes for our stuffing - close enough?

    1. The herb stuffing bread I make always comes out good, so I'm hoping this added stock does too.

Funny about cutting bread into cubes.

    1. Very nice. Love them all. Our local market didn't have any golds, yellows or greens in today. So I went with all Gala.

What will you make with yours?

  3. I'd imagine that would taste rather nice!

And as for apples, I just can't get enough of them. Off to buy some later as it happens. Eat at least 4 per day. Delicious :)

    2. Probably braeburn, then followed by the lemonade apples are my favourites, but as long as they're crisp, it doesn't really matter.

    3. I love the crisp. Oh, heaven.

Here we have a summer apple called transparent apple. So crisp. Only around for two weeks, I think the farmer told me. Can't even put them in the markets.

But man alive, do they make good apple sauce and good eatin'.

  7. I make great stuffing....
I have always used chicken stock....
I tear my bread into pieces, throw in with the chopped celery, onion and seasonings....
I now cook it in its own pan, as my oldest daughter has celiac....but she can eat butterball turkey! as it is one of the few that is gluten free....
My stuffing rocks....as....I am sure yours does too!
    Enjoy your evening....
    Cheers!

    1. I use the stock too when making the stuffing, but I've never made bread using stock instead of water. Bread done but haven't broke into it yet.

Nice that you make her meal gluten-friendly.

How about a corn bread stuffing? And then there are some with gluten issues that are okay eating homemade spelt breads, too.

    1. Never!

That's never forget, not never make. Though having to explain myself really takes away from the dramatic, never!

    2. We do. But only because I love them. Hubby is not a big fan, but he is a fan of me, so he'll put up with them :)
