Friday Question: Spiders or Worms?

In front of you is a bowl of spiders and a bowl of worms.  You have to eat one.  Which do you eat?

Eww.

I'm tempted to go with the worms.  Maybe they won't be so bad.  You know, a little earthy tasting.  Although, if the worms were still alive and squirmy, that might be a tough bowl to get down.

But then I love spiders so the idea of eating them, I dunno.  That might gross me out the door.  Though I've heard fried tarantula are to die for, not sure I could do it.

So ... which do you eat?  Spiders?  Worms?

  1. I don't think I want to eat either.
And we catch and release spiders at my house.

    1. lololol. I knew you wouldn't want to eat them but if you HAD to eat one. That's the game, silly. To pick one or the other.

  2. I'd have to be STARVING, and I mean having gone DAYS without food before I could eat either, but I'm pretty sure I'd pick the worms. They would go down easier, I think. And no, I wouldn't chew! Ew, ew, ew.

    1. Ew, ew, ew, is right. Your comment cracked me up. I don't know if I would chew either now that you say it. But wait? What if one long worm got kind of stuck going down your throat? SO GROSS!

  3. I've eaten many types of worms, and for the most part they don't really taste too bad; getting past the squirming is the hardest part. Meal worms actually have a nutty flavour that is kind of pleasant, but you have to spit out the carapace fragments afterwards.

Like you, I like spiders far too much to eat them; I can't even bring myself to kill them. Plus I imagine them tasting like raisins, which is just too gross to contemplate.

    1. Best comment. I laughed and read it to Tim. The last line really pulls it all together. Good stuff.

The spitting out of the carapace would not be fun. Though the nutty taste, sounds interesting.

    1. Thanks. That's a picture of a Halloween puzzle we bought on clearance a few Halloweens back. The words, I added.

  5. I'd go with worms and I'd sing the Worm Eating Song from when I was a kid --

"First you bite the head off -- CRUNCH!
Then you suck the guts out -- SLURP!
Oh how they wiggle and squirm!
    Big fat juicy ones,
    Long slim slimey ones,
    Itsy-bitsy oozy-goozy WORMS!"

    A classic.

    1. Hahaha.

I sang this to Tim. That's pretty darn good. You guys are the best Boogerbutts, with these answers.

  6. Worms, definitely. I think the crunchy exoskeleton of the spiders would be too much for me. Not to mention possibility of venom in some spiders, and I'm not sure how well that would sit with me. :)

    1. Worms, definitely. Hahaha.

Wonder if the spider legs crunch too? Eww.

  7. I would eat the worms, but only if they were in gummy form. (this is a cheater response, right?)

    1. You are a cheater, but the answer was funny so I'll accept gummy as a worm. Because it has worm in the title.

  8. OHMYGOSH...no way! I'd have to be near death's door, and then still...ABSOLUTELY no way on the worms. I can't even eat noodles that resemble worms. I feel like I'm going to be sick. As for spiders, I really like spiders, so I don't want to eat them. But maybe if they were dead and I was starving. Maybe...

How is hubby doing? Hope he's feeling better today! And how is Wonder Woman?

  9. I wonder how many insects I've eaten without even knowing it. Dip a worm or spider into chocolate, and I could be convinced to indulge.

It's always fun visiting. I love your Halloween art. xo

    1. Including the stuff they put on fruits and the critters that crawl into our mouths at night? Lots, I'm guessing.

Dipped in chocolate. Now we're talking.

    1. Chocolate covered worms. One time I'll have to ask chocolate covered worms or chocolate covered ants.

      Thanks for playing.

  13. Ewww...worms I guess? Because spiders can be poisonous and I wouldn't know for sure if the ones in front of me were or not!

  15. I'm going to go with C: Neither of the above!

  16. I've fasted for a week at a time, and would go longer to avoid such grossness. If FORCED to choose, I'd pick spider because I assume it would die a lot faster (with one "crunch") as opposed to night crawlers or whatnot (which can survive being severed).

    1. I thought about that too, how they still wiggle when they are severed. That makes it more gross.
