  1. Chocolate chip, then and now. (Although now we often make it with other flavors like butterscotch or peanut butter chips.)

    1. Sounds like a popular one. Never tried the butterscotch but I do love the chocolate and peanut butter. Num, num, num.

  2. Didn't have cookies as a kid.... I don't eat them often now either, but I guess I like the lush taste of coconut and of hazelnut too

    1. Both of those are such lovely flavours. Do you eat many of your cakes? Or mostly savoury treats?

    2. Haven't baked cakes in a while... waiting to move away and to start with that again.. hopefully....

    3. You excited for the move? I hope it goes smoothly for you and that you get back to baking your pretty cakes. I'd like to make your cappuccino one. Looks killer good.

    2. Chocolate fudge cookies, the sort with cream between two chocolate biscuits. Fudgeos, they call them up here.

  7. Flaky Flix by Mother's was my favorite as a kid. Now, I dunno. I don't really have one.

  8. When I was really young it was Mom's oatmeal cookies. Then in my teen years we discovered white chocolate and macadamia nut cookies at our local grocery store. They were amazing and we only got them on special occasions. Now my heart belongs to homemade gingerbread all the way.

    1. Ahh ... gingerbread ... heavenly.

Never tried white chocolate macadamia before, but I've heard good things about the nut.

      Thanks for playing :-)

  9. My Mum made the best cookies ever and her oatmeal ones even plain were the best. Snickerdoodles. Crisp on the edges but tender on the inside.
But my favorite cookies (recipe in her handwriting burned up in the fire and lost for ever) were her date cookies. a sugar type cookie that had chopped up dates and pecans in it. Rolled and frozen then sliced thin and baked. I have tried to recreate them but with no success.

    cheers, parsnip

    1. I'm sorry to hear you lost her recipe in the fire. These are hard things, for sure.

Do you recall the name of the cookie? Or what maybe your mom called it?

    2. Not really just date cookies. I think they might have be a promo recipe for butter or dates.
After you cut the circles from the rolls and baked the edges were crispy but the center was chewy. It didn't have a lot of dates or nuts, for me the perfect cookie.

    3. I love dates. I call them little bites of happiness. But also, they do look like dead bloated roaches. Though I don't mind that bit because the taste is killer.

I bake with dates and nuts in mine, but nothing like you described. Sounds heavenly.

Does baking them from the freezer help keep the insides soft, whilst browning the edges?

    4. I think so but you cut then thin and only bake them for a few minutes. Plus many recipes call for brown sugar and I think you only use white to keep them lighter looking. I will try to make some again and see how I do.

  11. My mom baked cookies all the time, my fave was a pineapple cookie with a dab of great frosting on top. Now I like a mincemeat cookie I bake usually for Christmas, or a coconut cookie.

  12. I used to love chocolate chip. And my mom made wonderful butter cookies. Now I really love cookies that have an oatmeal or coconut taste or smell to them. I still like butter cookies like my mom made, but now I make them myself. Thumbprint cookies with raspberry filling are delicious! And I love shortbread cookies, too. There are probably a few more, but these are tops!

  13. As a kid -- chocolate chip, hands down. Now? I think peanut butter.

  14. Gingerbread of course. :)

  15. I've never really had a favorite cookie per say...but I have always favored peanut butter and oatmeal raisin. Right now though I love anything with coconut and a bit of ginger. I had these key lime cookies once that were amazing, but unfortunately I forgot to get the recipe.
