True or False?

  1. Actually it's not weird at all... she's a good character who'd be terrific in her own film. While Marvel has hit all the right notes in developing their cinematic universe, DC seems (with the exception of Batman) desperately trying to catch up in film.

  2. PS: her annoyed expression is perfect.

  3. Yes, it's time for this movie! Way overdue...

  4. And when it bombs because it was put into production with a slapped together script, had a director that was only doing for the paycheck and access to projects he/she actually wanted to do, and a popular casting choice, who wasn't actually up to carrying the whole movie, then what?

  5. Definitely a Wonder Woman movie! I loved the old TV series.

(Also love the appearance of Thor and Loki in this toon!)

  7. Unfortunately all too true, and I wish it weren't.

There should definitely be a Wonder Woman movie -- I'd totally dig that.

  8. I'd love a wonder woman movie - as long as they get her out of that outfit, I mean really who could be a super hero without their boobs popping out of that top, not to mention the lack of protective armor...hmm, maybe I should design her costume...

  9. Your point? ROFL

I don't know. The actress they're talking about just doesn't do it for me. Linda's a tough act to follow -- not, necessarily as an actress -- she definitely had the look.

Ever see the original comics? Of course you have!

  10. They're filming Jem & the Holograms right now, but can't make a WW movie? *shakes head*

  11. Since a lot of superhero movies are watched by males in the younger generations, getting quite the beautiful actress to portray her would get a lot of people in theaters regardless of if the movie is any good or not.

Though Gal Gadot will be playing her in that Batman/Superman film. Though she doesn't look like wonder woman to me.

  12. I can unfortunately see the conversation happening pretty much like that. :/

DC has made a lot of bad movies for whatever reason. Even Batman has had mostly bad movies, except for the Michael Keaton and Christian Bale movies. Most of Christopher Reeve's Superman movies were stupid; the first one rocking a truckload of socks just emphasized how meh two was, and how horrible three and four were. I won't even mention Green Lantern. [shudder]

About female-led movies not doing well, that's interesting, isn't it? They put out a piece of crap like Catwoman, with an awful script and bad acting, then point at the box office and say, "Well, see, people don't want to pay to watch an action/adventure movie with a female lead." Although somehow we were able to survive stinkers like Punisher and Ghost Rider and The Phantom without anyone deciding that people don't want to see male led movies. If a movie starring a woman bombs, it's because people don't want to watch women. If a movie starring a man bombs, it's because that particular actor did a bad job, or the script sucked, or the director phoned it in, or the marketing was awful (John Carter, anyone?) It's never because of the sex of the lead. Funny, that.

I'll also point out that one of the biggest grossing action/adventer movies of all time starred a woman -- Alien.

  13. I have to agree with what Angie said here and add that I think it's a disheartening that in this day and age we still have to have a discussion based on whether the general public can "handle" a movie based around a strong female lead.
