Who owns a Juicer?

After two days, I'm finally showered and dressed.  I've been THAT worn out.  But thankfully, little to no spinal pain.  But I know things aren't right, so onto the doctors for blood work.

Meanwhile, I'm looking super cute in my zombie-tee (see last post).  And after I finish writing this, I'm off to my chores.

Then tomorrow, if all goes right, I'll start an eight day work week and be rewarded with a weekend home with Tim.  Hope so, anyway.  Won't know until I see the schedule tomorrow.

As for my blender, it's on the way out.  I had wanted a professional Vita-Mix (restaurant page, not home cook), but the cost is far beyond my grasp.  So it's might be onto a Breville juicer with blender attachment.  If you have one, I'd love to hear what you think of your machine.  Or what you think of your dedicated juicer, should you have one of those.

As for me, I'm still not sure if I'm going stand alone juicer or the dual package.  Still watching video reviews.

That wraps it up.  Take care and boogie boogie.

  1. Hope the doctors can get you from "little to no spinal pain" to "no pain at all." I know that any pain in the back is not at all fun.

    1. Thanks, Chris. The spinal pain is barely even an issue right now. Which is amazing, considering all the physical activity I've been doing.

  2. I've owned the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer (White) for years and it works like a champ. The clean-up is a drag, but it juices incredibly well thanks to the high rpm motor. I hope yours works out and that you feel better soon!

    1. Thanks, Christian. I'm watching videos on the Omega right now. He's about to make nut butter. I miss making nut butters.

  3. Hope there's nothing terribly wrong with you and I hope you feel better soon!

I used to have a juicer, but never used it. I think I donated it.

    1. Thanks for stopping by. Why didn't you use it? Not fun? Not tasty?

  4. I have a blender and a borrowed food processor (good for soup!), but no juicer :(

    1. A long time ago, I had a food processor that made the best nut butters. Long gone now though.

I like blenders for the whole fruit/fiber thing. Good stuff.

  5. Hey Whiskers - we use the Omega in our house. It's quiet and really easy to clean up (even I use it AND clean it). A bit pricey but worth it. My wife picked it up last year when she went raw (food that is). Good healthy and healing stuff comes outta there!

    1. Thanks, Bliss. I'm watching another video on the Omega right now. Which model did you guys get? And do you find you have to prep a lot of your veg and fruits ahead of time.

      Does look easy to clean.

    2. We got the 8006. We do have to cut the pieces up a bit smaller than with other juicers but I can't emphasize how easy the clean-up is.

    3. I don't mind the chopping part. I like that you can clean it easy.

From what I researched today both the 8004 and 8006 come with 15 year warranties. I like that A LOT.

I also like that there's less air being pumped in, where the Breville has a bit too much air, though fast and able to handle carrots.

How's the 8006 on hard things like carrots? I don't mind the chopping part.

Thanks for giving your thoughts on this.

    4. I also like that the 8004/8006 can make a frozen banana treat. That's fun. But the Omega VRT (same masticating juicer as 8004/8006), takes up less space.

And from what I saw on a video demo, the VRT now covers making nut butters in their warranty, though it's a ten year, not fifteen.

At least from all this today, I know I'm going masticating vs. centrifugal. These are words I did not know yesterday.

Think I need a break now.

PS: Have you guys tried to make sorbet yet, and if so was it yummy?

    1. I hope I got it. I'll know for sure when I go into work tomorrow. Fingers and toes crossed, big time.

      Happy Weekend :-)

  7. I hope you're feeling better soon. Wish I could help with the juicer, but I've never owned one (even though I want one). Happy Friday!

  8. I have never owned one and just googling all the different brands, I didn't realize they were so expensive! I hope you get an awesome one that doesn't break the bank!

    1. Hey Jen - There really are some way too high ones out there. Thankfully, I landed a good deal.

      Happy Weekend :-)

    1. Last week was a seven day work week, but I got a big surprise when I got to work on Friday. Not only did they give me next weekend off, but also Wednesday - so I could get a bit of a break.

      Woohoo.

  10. Ugh, 8 days...sometimes 5 days is too many :) Hope it goes quick and easy for you. I don't have a juicer. I'm shopping for a good cookware set myself. Tired of everything I try to cook becoming one with the pan! Feel better, my friend!

    1. I got a surprise with the schedule and they gave me Wednesday off. Woohoo. No eight days in a row.

Become one with the skillet - that's the way to go. When you want to go pan shopping just say the word. I'm there.

  11. Damn, girl! I hope you recover your energy. It sounds like my Christmas seasons at Hallmark. Can't give any insight about professional juicers. We did the hillbilly method as a kid--strainer, towel and wooden pestle.

  12. No energy is such a drag. I'm chronically tired so a can relate. Those professional blenders are ridiculously expensive. It's a conspiracy.

  13. Glad to read you're (almost) spinal pain free. I hope that your 'something's not right' feeling is wrong and all is well.

Enjoy your well-deserved weekend when it comes.

  14. Hope you're more rested now :D

We have a juicer. My hubby was using it all the time and started putting on weight...a lot of weight. He thought he was doing something healthy with all that carrot juice - but no one eats 25 carrots a day. One, two, maybe and that's healthy but 25 is a LOT of sugar. Be careful.

  15. Admittedly, I do not have a juicer.
