Which Chef Would You...

Hi this is Tim, Ivy's husband.  I am posting instead of her because she is cleaning the house and I am avoiding cleaning the house.  Ivy and I were yapping over some cold pizza, bad wings and ice tea about her cooking new things over the vacation. So I poised the question to her which chef person would you like to go over to his or her house and have dinner. To me its a no brainer, Nigella Lawson. Cause even if the food isn't too my liking I am still going to have a good time.

Ivy didn't even smack me in the back of the head for writing that either.

And for something completely ridiculous you can head over to my blog and choose which monster you would like to go to dinner with.

  1. Tim: So this is what you've been doing? Meanwhile, the bedding is almost done and I stepped in doggy doo for the third time.

  2. I'm don't know enough chef-people to formulate a cogent response. I do, however, admire your tactics for getting out of housework, Tim. ;)

  3. Everyone: But as for the answer, that's a tough one.

I like Lidia a lot. And often learn a great deal from her when I watch her cook. But if I could really really pick anyone in the world, it'd be my Hungarian grandma (Mamam). She was always up for a food experiment and miss playing in the kitchen with her.

CounterFett: I like her. Tim calls her Pezz Head.

Trey: And now he's gotten me out of housework because I'm answering people back. But I can't get mad that the house isn't done, because he got me all those great Halloween gifts.

Earned him some points, he did.

  4. I would love to hang out with Jacques Pepin. The guy is a real chef, and seems very down to earth. From what I've heard, he's a really nice person.

  5. Wow, I don't know too many chefs. Can I just go out for dinner with Anthony Bourdain?

  6. Dan: I love him. I always learn from him as well. Thought about picking him but I'd still have to go with my Hungarian Gram - overall.

Alex: I like watching where he goes, but I learn more from the chef who replaced Anthony in the kitchen. That guy, I can't recall his name, but I'd love to see him have a show.

  7. Flea: I Google her. Very pretty. Love her smile. Not heard of her cooking. Will take a look-see after I'm done cleaning.

I'd say after we're done cleaning but I think I just lost Tim to the Sports Channel.

  9. She makes cakes (and is a former model)... that's all I needed to know when Rachel asked me to get her Lorraine's latest book for Xmas.

I'm just gearing up for the last, ever, episode of Smallville - which takes off, over here, in 14 minutes ;)

  10. Alton Brown. I think he'd be a great conversationalist.

  11. I don't know any chefs either but I wouldn't mind having dinner with the spooky whisk herself; everything she makes looks pretty good to me :)

  12. christian: Hope the pumpkin soup was yummy.

Flea: Ohhhh. Neato. I'll have to give her a look-see at the bookshop. Haven't seen Smallville yet. But we have one more episode of Walking Dead, season one, left.

James: He is very cool. Love Good Eats.

    mshatch: That's super flattering. Thanks.

  13. Nigella's too posh for me, I used to like to watch Keith Floyd who sadly passed away a couple of years ago, he used to keep swigging down wine and got progressively pissed, as the show went on, it was great TV. So I'd choose him, alive of course!!!

  14. Ray: "alive of course." Very funny.

  15. I'm going to have to go with the Swedish Chef. You gotta love that hat and the funky accent.

  16. First choice: Anthony Bourdain. The food will be great, whatever it is, and the conversation better.

Second Choice: Mario Batalli. Because if I'm going, I'm taking my wife, and he's one of the few big-name chefs whose really making efforts in developing vegetarian recipes that honor his cuisine (my wife's a vegetarian).

  17. Sean: Swedish Chef. Another excellent choice. I can hear him talking now. Great stuff.

Theron: I was a veghead most all my life. Not no more. Did you see the show where Anthony went back to his old restaurant to do a lunch and supper as a cook? I like the guy that took his place as chef. Be great to see him have a show.

  18. I'd have to go with Alton Brown -- I love to know the science behind what I'm eating. :)

  19. I posted here last night but it disappeared, I'm with Tim anyway.

  20. Nigel Slater - good simple food and a passion for flavour over style.

  21. That's hilarious! :) I think I'd hang with Giada...Italian sounds good right now.

  22. Kim: I never ate at his restaurant, but some of the foods he makes, I'd be into trying.

Bard: Love the science and lab work of cooking experiments, and Brown does it pretty darn good.

    Lurker: She's a hottie.

    Pierce: From the television show?

    Jess: I'll Google him.

Alan: Great to see you. I'll Google Slater as well. Love taste over style.

  23. Julia Childs! Even though she's dead. (Fitting for Halloween week, yes?)

  24. MG: Well, my Hungarian Grand is dead as well, so it can be a double dead cookery party.

That sounds like it's in bad form but Mamam LOVED old black and white scary movies and she said the name Dracula better than anyone I know.

  25. My choice is Rick Bayless. I like that he dove in to the Mexican culture to learn the traditional way of cooking (for over a decade!) and then the beautiful spin he gives his dishes.

He is truly a TOP CHEF

  26. William: You don't have to know them. They can be any chef/cook. Heck, they don't even have to be living. That's the fun of a game.
