Second Home

I'm excited.  Know why? Because I'm off from work today and tomorrow.  That's right. Two days off in a row, after 18 days of not having the same day off with Tim.  Now I got two.  Count 'em.  One, two. Yeah, Baby.

So tonight we hit Barnes and I loved it.  I still miss Borders but slowly but surely, Barnes is starting to feel like our second home.

Even tasted a pumpkin cheesecake for the first time.  Now it's time to hit my lab and make a healthier version.  Well, not right now because right now, we're going to eat take out pizza and watch the last of The Walking Dead.

You all have an extra special oogie boogie night.

PS: Mademoiselle Wiggy sends puppy hugs.  Vomit-free. Bug however, is too busy numming on the new pig ears we bought them.  Those girls are so spoiled.

And we wouldn't have it any other way.

  2. Uncle Bard: It was a nice day. We have one episode left from season one. But we're both pooped so we're saving it for next time.

Do you watch The Walking Dead?

  3. I'm adjusting to the Barnes-found a bunch of Pathfinder stuff there, so adjustment has become much easier:)

  4. Actually I'm not familiar with The Walking Dead, but it sounds like something I might like. I'll definitely have to check it out!

  7. I don't know what The Walking Dead is (and don't watch horror-type stuff, shudder!) and I don't even know what pig ears are. Pathetic, eh? But big congrats on having 2 days off, rah!!! Enjoy yourself. :)

Ooo! And pumpkin cheesecake sounds scrumptious!!!

  10. bliss: It is a relaxing weekend. Playing in the kitchen now. Working on draft 3 of my take on an apple pizza. Hope your weekend is going fun as well.

You and your wife doing anything special for Halloween this year?

Human's Folly: Very cool that you found Pathfinder stuff at Barnes. I'm digging the hot soy pumpkin drink, along with the many many cookery books and magazines.

Do you ever hang out in the cafe' at Barnes?

Uncle Bard: I heard about it from the gamer bloggers and watched an ad on Flea's blog, I believe. Tim bought the first season and it's not terrible. I haven't really connected with any of the characters yet, but I'm enjoying the time on the couch, eating pizza under our Halloween lights.

  11. Carol: Never any horror? Or even light horror? You know, just a little be scary. I can't handle a lot of killing just for killing sake, but I do fancy a good scary story.

The pumpkin cheesecake wasn't too bad at Barnes. I probably would not spend the money on it again because I think I can make it cheaper and cleaner at home. Cleaner meaning less crap and more flavor. We'll see.

  12. Needles: I really am making the most of it. Seems like Tim and I have been passing in the hallway more, than actually spending quality time at the bookshop or the on the couch - enjoying the Halloween season.

    How is your weekend?

Do you watch The Walking Dead?

Hanny: So true and now that I'm working nearly every weekend at the restaurant, the weekends off hold even more value for me.

  13. I do adore a good day off, especially when there are two in a row! I hope you enjoyed yourself and it was nice and relaxing!

    Happy Monday!

  14. I've never seen The Walking Dead, but I may have seen the walking dead. That thinking on the cheesecake is mine too - basically why pay someone to make something that's worse? Especially when it's more fun doing it ourselves. Pumpkin is good food; I'm not listening about the pig ears.

  15. Jen: Was super duper good, but back to work today. Happy Monday to you.

Porky: lolololol on the pig ears.

  16. The Walking Dead is my new favorite show. Last night's ending was a gut-punch.

  17. Professor: La la la la, I can't hear you. We only watch it once it is out on NetFlix or DVD. We're a season behind.

  18. Okay, I can wait 9 months or so to tell you about it. Glad you're liking Barnes and Noble, by the way.

  19. Whisk, surprisingly we haven't started our Halloween movie fest yet, usually we're quite into it by this time. But I think we're starting with Red State later this week.

Costumes this year? James Bond and Pussy Galore - 60's style!

  20. I'll happily except a vomit-free puppy hug.

  21. Professor: Yeah, Barnes is working out for the most part. We found a little side room with big-ass tables. Tim writes on the laptop and I study cookery books and magazines.

You ever hang out at bookshops?

bliss: I haven't watched some of my favorites yet either. We did move the living room into winter mode, which means the couch faces the corner where the TV is, along with lots of good orange light above.

Not those crappy salmon colored ones some stores sell but real pumpkin orange.

    That's the good stuff.

  22. Trey: One vomit-free puppy hug. Two now that Bug is done eating her pig ear.

As I type this both dogs are running up and down the hall, into the living room and over the couch. Chasing each other for the two squeaky toys I tossed them.

And before that, lots of walking. Trying to poop them out before Tim gets home because he's not feeling good. Cold I think.

    How's your day?
